Mantra-preneur: Unleash Your Inner Power with Personalized Mantras

Consideration of ancient wisdom in the midst of modern-day entrepreneurial madness is a tough assignment, I know, but hear me out.

In the same way that cold plunges and HGH injections are popular among high-performance individuals, something less aggressive – surprisingly simple, even – holds an esteemed place in their lives, too.

Enter mantras.

A mantra is a word or phrase you hold in your head and repeat traditionally while you are meditating…think of rooms of people with their eyes closed chanting “Ommmmm”.

While Om is a sacred mantra to Buddhists, many people repeat their own personal mantras during times of stress or throughout their day to enhance their mental well-being.

It might seem a bit "out there" in our fast-paced world, but trust me, this practice is a game-changer for us entrepreneurs, too.

Mantras can be one word such as “Focus” or “Unstoppable”, if you're the direct type.

They can be simple mindfulness phrases such as “I am present in the moment” or “I am centered and at peace” if your mind starts to spin out on occasion.

Or your mantra might be something longer and more supportive if what you need is support.

My mantra is: "My talents and skills fully support me and build my security."

I did not write this one actually, but when I read it my little brain went 🤯, because it hits on my own vulnerabilities and core values.  Is what I can offer professionally enough? Do I aspire to great wealth or is it security that I want?

This mantra fuels my confidence when the going gets tough.

I wrote it on a sticky note and keep it above my desk so I read it to myself multiple times a day…when I need a mental reset. It helps!

I hope you, too, find the words you need to support your headspace as an entrepreneur, because it's a wild ride sometimes. And weather you aspire to great personal wealth or great life balance, the road forward will be bumpy.

By embracing this ancient practice with a modern twist, you, too, can navigate the entrepreneurial road with greater ease.

3 Steps to Writing a Mantra that Supports You

If, like me, you want a mantra that helps stabilize you out of your insecurities, here's how to create it.

Step 1: Be Positive. A positive mantra should uplift and motivate you. Focus on affirmations that highlight your strengths, ambitions, and the qualities that make you unique. Use empowering language and imagine the emotional impact you want your mantra to have. For example, instead of saying "I am not afraid of failure," reframe it as "I embrace challenges and learn from them."

Step 2: Keep It Concise. Your mantra should be easy to remember so you can call on it when you need to. Aim for a phrase or sentence that captures the essence of your goals and values without being overly complex. For example, “I am driven and focused" or “My passion fuels my success”.

Step 3: Align with Your Core Values and Objectives. Reflect on what truly matters to you as an entrepreneur, such as innovation, authenticity, or resilience. Or maybe you need to remind yourself of why you got into business for yourself, such as control over your time, work-life balance, or the freedom to explore a new path. For example, let's assume your core values are creativity and growth, and your primary objective is to innovate in your industry. Here's an example of a mantra that aligns with these values and objectives: "I embrace my creativity to drive growth and innovation."
